Working on some stuff in Namhae and noticed that a patch of ground looked wrong. Thought maybe it was a prim or something but turned out to be the ground texture, and after inspecting the rest of the grounds found that its repeating, like the image is corrupt or something... actually hoping that its a first look viewer bug because i'm liking the first look a little too much presently...

WTF?!?
ARG! Junie and I have been working all evening on finishing up my building for Caledon SteamSkyCity. We were finishing up texturing the last few prims before taking it over there where we'd finish it up over the next few days, when BANG... all the pieces in the middle section shifted in various directions for no apparent reason, leaving us with the task of unlinking everything and moving everything back to where it belongs piece by piece. Hours of work, all bye-bye. Of course, the obvious answer here is that I didn't refer to the Knowledge Base or clear my cache *enough* times tonight... There's probably a 'workaround' for whatever issue it was that we just encountered... grr.

Catapult
After tonight's excitment in Caledon, while in Tanglewood meeting with other militia folk, I picked up a copy of the catapult beingsold to benefit RFL. I ended up back in Nonesuch to work on a building, recalled the purchase and rezzed the mighty weapon on top of the build... 399 m. up in the sky ;-) Wonder where I'll land... Bombs away!

Victorian on a budget
Fits on a 512m plot, and only 26 prims! I'm finishing up the 1024m plot version tonight and will add privacy scripts. I'm very happy with this build so far. :-)

Steampunk Kettle Heater
I thought yesterdsay that I had blogged a picture of this wonderful entry for the Caledon Steampunk Inventor's Competition, but I appear to have not. This amazingly keen device is something I had recently floated building myself, but ended up not, so it was wonderful to see that someone, Angus Mesmer, had brought it to life. There really is nothing quite like a really good cup of tea!

which is worse...?
out of the blue, the giant rotating signs appeared. in namhae, we've made a little village for ourselves which we're pretty fond of. apparenty, one of our neighbors sold their parcel (ack, we soooo wanted to buy this parcel for sooo long!) and up went the signs. at first, they were even extending over the property line so they were over junie's store. i think that rotating cubes in the sky are likely the ugliest thing in sl, so up went some plywood to block the sight, but really, the plywood is just as ugly. while we do plan on constructing a nice wall that reaches high into the sky (on three sides of the for sale parcel no less), presently, i'm really not sure what i think is worse...

mirrors... easy come, easy go?
i was pretty excited to log back in tonight and mess around with the mirrors, but after updating to the latest release of the first look viewer, logging in presented me with not my mirror prims, but some lame, plain old plywood with high shine turned on but no mirrors. check the reflective surfaces setting, saw that it was off, turned it on, and all my plywood not only didn't go all reflective like, but turned to regular old plywood, minus the shine (which is still turned on in the picture). did i break something? or is this debug menu feature no longer working?

reflective surfaces... super groovy
the first look viewer has a setting in the debug menu for enabling reflective surfaces on objects set to shininess-> high. i was hoping to build some groovy optical device using mirrors, but not working quite the way i expected, but still very exciting stuff. here's a pic of me all reflecting and such... its pretty wicked to see my reflection swaying slightly as my av does.

more moving objects in namhae!
junie's shop in namhae appears, unfortunately, to be alive. although locked, a portion of the building continues to move itself. earlier she moved the piece back into place and locked it again, but when we logged on again, it had moved itself even further than previously! a few of the trees are moving themselves too. do you have to pay extra tier or a special fee to have objects stay where you put them?

first look viewer fun
the edit tool appears to be having some technical difficulties. taking a snapshot when editing an object results in trippy pictures like this one all yellow. actually, using the edit tool at all tonight has produced much in the way of amusement and crashing... edit an object and move around and the client threatens you near seizure inducing blue, green and red flashing colors. but hey, i remembered to close the edit tool right after snapping this shot, so at least this time i didn't crash :)

Joystick Fun!
Intolerable Ginsburg helps me find a way to get my joystick working with the second life client. It's mainly just emulating keyboard commands, but hey - once you get it working, it is great for exploring, driving, and shooting people. Yay!
