It's interesting to see how all of the builds have been mostly derezzed. Bits and pieces lie scattered about, floating in the air. I was hoping that I could see a build that I saw before to find the creators name, but I didn't have any such luck. On the way back to my campsite, almost everything was gone except an old school bus and the luminarias lighting the path. I spotted two of them lit up as pink and purple. DeltaDharmaDawn Aubret donated 10,000 L$ to light up the pink one. Silverecho Aubret donated a whopping 20,000 L$ for the purple one. Not only do they light up, but they have particles floating around them. For 50K, you can light up one with a Hippo on it and a special message.

End of the SL Relay for Life 2008
The parties over. Everyone is packing up to head on home. The bells in these flowers sing melodies in the air, but it still feels quiet. No one is left. The end of all events is here. I hope to be a part of the next years relay for life. It's been a lot of fun. But for now, good night people. Thanks for helping to make this happen. SL Relay For Life Website.

Two of My Favorites
Dedric Mauriac and Grace McDunnough come to the Elves campsite!!! We watch the survivors go by. I am glad they are here. Friends are the true meaning of Second Life.

Groovy Scavenger Hunt
Topping the list for the scavenger hunt is my friend Grace McDunnough. You can win a prize if you find every record. Sounds difficult, but it's worth a try, because you get to hear snipppets of songs.

Everybody ready?
Just taking one last look down the road before I get some sleep. A lot has been built up in a relatively short period of time. I think we may be on top with the wierdest campsite out there. I mean, come one. Who would have thought up the ingeneouse idea of haveing a giant frog with fish swimming around inside his mouth while letting your group pose for a snapshot? It's all in good fun. But if it worries you, we also have a full-time therapist on-site.

Ready for press
All the scripts are tested, working, and ready to roll. Such a long time to come to this. 18 records in all for people to find. I also have the ability to disable the contest and start it up on a whim. All of the code is tightly coupled for this first version of the scavenger hunt, but in the future I may have the ability to make it customizable so that anyone can make there own scavenger hunt. Still, this is going to be a lot of fun.

Scavenger Hunt Testing
So my scavenger hunt project is almost done. I've saved a lot of different locations throughout our campsite into a database. As each record is found, it disappears and moves to a different location. This may help so that everyone has an equal chance of finding records. If the record isnt' found for a long time (about 1 hour), it moves to a random location as well. I'm playing around riding on a prim touring each location to make sure everything was saved and is comming from the database just fine. Each person may only grab one of each record. Once they collect all the records, they will get a prize.

99,850 US$
We are nearing the 100,000 milestone for how much funds we have raised this year for the Relay for Life events. It's amazing how much money you can raise for a cuase within a virtual game. We are all wondering how soon it will go past the milestone and who it is going to be. 150 US$ isn't much in comparison.

Groovy Scavenger Hunt
I got another artist signed up for the Groovy Scavenger Hunt today. That makes 16 songs in all that people can hunt for. I created a sign for the scavenger hunt listing all the artists and what songs you can find. I also started working on the actual script to keep track of what items each person has found. Just a few more days and people will be having fun searching for records. I also worked more on my telehub. I've been customizing the Clanis telehub with my own touch. You can now walk inside and look around.

15 Groovy Records
I've got 15 records setup from musicians within Second Life for our Groovy Scavenger Hunt. Dawn DeSimone sent in four songs that kept me busy most of the afternoon. Each record has its own artwork affixed to the cover of it to help tell them appart and personalize them. There is still time for other musicians to get in on this before the Relay for Life event kicks off this weekend. It's all free and I need a 10 second sound clip to sample each song.

Secret Prizes
From time to time, my camera goes inside places where it normally couldn't. I was working with some textures and found it was easier to apply them from behind a wall that my objects were placed on. I discovered a few lights that should have been on the outside of the building shining down at the walls. I started moving my camera throughout different parts of the building and found an old map of the world and a box of the SL icon hands rotating. Well, they were not actually rotating, but the images were setup so that dropping an animating script inside would easily set them up to appear to be rotating. I'll have to play around with these more later.

Musician Spotlight
So far I have 11 musicians signed up for the Groovy Scavenger Hunt. I've been making record covers for 45's for each artist and making sound clips from the songs that they send me. As I get more applications, my team members get even more excited over this. I just hope I can reach most of the musicians to get them involved. It's free for them to get their name out there and I think people would really enjoy hearing about new musicians that they may not have heard of otherwise. I currently have Kim Seifert, Cyberpiper, Spence Wilder, Takamura Keiko, Andy Glasgo, Cypress Rosewood, Grace McDunnough, MidKnight Auer, and Rich Desoto signed up. If you know of an SL Musician, send them my way!

Tree Hugger
I just spotted ELLiebob Bean hugging some of our tree. She ran away as soon as I saw, but then she came back. So funny. Apples keep falling, but somehow they avoid her.

Artificial Intelligence in the 60's
So I whipped out ELIZA for a chat and found that she too was originally made in the 60's. This little program simulates a therapist. You tell it all your problems and it responds, sometimes rephrasing what you had just said. It has fooled people in the past. However, it is so simple that many people catch on quickly that it really is a simple set of instructions that eventually repeat its reponses. The trick now is to figure out how to integrate it into our campsite.

Put the needle on the record
I've been working on the building for my Groovy Scavenger Hunt. I got a spinning record with a needle. I even got a penny setting on top so it doesn't skip or fall off the groove! With all the fun in Second Life, I put a picture of Philip Linden on the face of the penny. I'm also using one of the classing Linden Telehubs from Clanis as the main building for my records. ELLiebob Bean has been dropping notecards on many musicians in Second Life to get their names on our records for our scavenger hunt. A few have already already given me the go ahead. This is much fun to be had.

Things to come
ELLiebob Bean, Vessus Candour and I discuss our plans for building up our Relay for Life campsite. I'm clueless for building. I'm more into gadgets rite now. Mainly, I'm building out the scavenger hunt. I've gotten Rich Desoto on board with 3 of his songs. ELLiebob Bean has a few musician in SL that she will contact as well.

These boots are made for walkin
My teams campsite is accessable by our team members rite now. I dropped on by to check things out. The roads are all setup and comes rite through our camp. I just stand here looking and waiting. I walked the most laps last year. I wonder if I can do the same this year. Hopefully I'll be able to spend a good part of the day on the relay, but finals are comming up for school and I'm involved with a teams campsite. Only time will tell. I'm sure I'll get many laps this year.
