OK you grid-hopping, multi-multiverse types...kick the WindLight habit and check out realXtend's open grid viewer. Supposedly, it'll be able to hop you between the Second Life grid and other grids operating on OpenSim. Not being much of an OpenSim guy, I'll leave the evaluations of that aspect to the readers to figure out. As for the viewer? It's OK...the interface is very close to Linden Lab's SL viewer, but the colors and fonts are a little different. Actually, the colors resemble the new Dazzle release candidate from Linden. Mosaic in SLiving Color
Through a unique, collaborative community art show, Isolde Flamand has been assembling SL photography symbolizing the end of winter and beginning of spring in both RL and SL. Visitors are encouraged to buy a mosaic tile for L$1 and drop their unique photo onto the prim. Swing by and add your imagery to the mix!

Resting in Shepherd's forest
After the ill-fated glass tower build, which just didn't strike my aesthetic fancy, I went back to what I know and started planting trees. An attractive place, punctuated by a few pleasant sculpture art pieces, it's really different than the former Oyster Bay. No longer is my property a hub of community, artistic vision and life. It's a contemplative space. Quiet. Serene. Perhaps that's what I need in my SL right now. Anyway, here's a photo of Morris enjoying the silence of the former Oyster Bay, now just the forest in Shepherd.

Oyster Bay: 10 Jan 2007-19 February 2008
What a run it's been. Thank you, everyone, for making it what it's been. It's been a wonderful year-plus.

As our closing party rolls along...DD's playing everything from a MoShang Zhao to "Oh Yeah" from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Guy's on a roll...as he should be, considering he played our grand opening party and now is here to close the place!

The Second Arts "Meet Our Artisans" event!
It's the unofficial grand opening of the new Second Arts Photography gallery. 6 great SL photographers (and me) on display. And a full sim dancing away to the opening of Doubledown Tandino's "Quirk" tour!

Windsurfing
I finished the walkway and waterfall at the new Second Arts - did some landscaping, too - so it was time to play!

The new Second Arts building
So much has happened since I last wrote! Oyster Bay's manager and my good friend Isolde Flamand purchased a significant piece of property next to Oyster Bay's property in the Shepherd sim, and we agreed that it would make a lot of sense to move the Second Arts photography gallery over to her land. (Which will mean more for the prior Second Arts spaces in Oyster and Shepherd...) So in between Christmas travels in RL, I've been working with Isolde to build this place, which is about 75-80% complete. We hope to wrap it up and have an opening soon!

Coming Soon: Second Arts Photography and Theater
The best of SL-generated photography and machinima...at Oyster Bay. It's been a fun build.

Serving the Public
Someone had reported a problem with a vendor not working. Apparently the rolling restart this morning caused all of my vendors to compain that the servers were not responding. I teleported over just to make sure the vendor was working. Sekonda Huet and Eddie Hagoromo were there at the police station next to my store in Higgins. They had setup the comission catalogs in there station. These guys loved everything I had. One said that I sell everything that you don't need, but you want. Eddie suggested for me to make an inbox/outbox tray and Sekonda jumped up at the idea and wanted one too. Looks like I have a new project to whip up today.

All aboard the steam walker!
At about 100m tall, it's difficult to get the entire build in the pic without the clouds getting in the way. But at least you can get some idea of the scale... Stop by Oyster Bay Market before midnight tomorrow to check this out, as well as two smaller builds. Also, I'll be giving a talk about steampunk on the steam walker platform tomorrow night at 9pm SLT!

OMG! Madcow Day 2
Madcow mentioned to my wife that the new piece was going to be 'big'. Anyone familiar with his work might immediately do what she did, which was wonder, 'what's big by Madcow standards'. I can't urge everyone enough to come and find out ;-)

I.J. Ginsburg @ Oyster Bay
On a whim (more or less), Intolerable and I rented a stall at the Oyster Bay Market to display some of our more artistic creations. If you drop by the Market in the next two weeks, you'll be treated to a new sculpture a day by Madcow Cosmos, one of the most incredible sculptors in SL! (You really can't miss his exhibit....from the telehub, just look for the gigantic skeletons...)

Blue Hair Memorial
Cleaning up my prims around Higgins and clearing out most of my land. I'm preparing for the final stages before I purchase my sim - fully paid for by selling Lindens! The blue hair memorial is going to be my everlasting temple in tribute to me and my blue hair. It will be my mark saying "I was here on the mainland". I need to figure out how I'm going to make a statue of me and keep the prims down. Maybe I'll just leave a giant version of my blue hair, or a picture of me. I'm still thinking what to do. It's one of those funny things that people would say - "only in sl would you build a memorial for your hair".

Selling Realestate
So after a week I was able to sell my property next to a linden road. I purchased it for 75,000 L$ and sold it for 55,000 L$. That's a loss of about 75 US$ (20,000 L$ @266/1). The bad news, it seems, is that I purchased the land just before a big land crash. Most land seems to be going at 14 L$/sq. m. these days. Well, I sold it for a little more but I still lost out. What will become of me? Still - I am a step closer to purchasing my own sim. 55K isn't bad. That's about 200 US$!
