1.19.1(4) on Ubuntu
So I finally got the ATI drivers installed for Ubuntu 7.10. Second Life now performs good; actually, it looks better than the average Vista experience, so far. I can't get the advanced ATI settings on Vista, but I can on Ubuntu. Next up: the rest of my application stack..

1.20.0.RC0 dazzling interface
The all new and shiny 1.20.0.RC0 contains the blueish interface formerly known as Dazzle. I like it, but it may not be the UI reform some are asking for. Btw, the 1.19.4 viewer works good for me, I hope this one turns out good as well. Oh and I noticed a new button in the user preferences: joystick setup! That should make some people happy.. crossposted to sered second life

html placeholder texture
I have created an HTML placeholder texture with a written explanation of what this is and how it works. This way, users of previous SL viewer versions, or 1.19.1 users, at least get an idea what it's all about!

when working with 1.19.1 RC0, I sometimes loose my mouse pointer. I need to restart SL to get it back. Annoying bug! posted by Sered Woollahra on Timandra using a blogHUD

html on a prim: weathercube!
I'm trying out the new html on a prim feature of 1.19.1 RC0. It's not what I expected : the webpage has to be specified at parcel level, not per individual prim. But still, it opens op some very useful possibilities. One observation: user need to enable streaming media in their user preferences before this will work! Here, I have created a weathercube: it displays the current weather satellite picture on a cube. Wether you walk past or fly by, you can see the current weather in Europe! A nice in world reminder of that other, real world ;-)

what I've been wondering about: how is wegame.com going to make money? Currently they say: " 100% Free: No Ads, Spyware, or Time Limits". So where's the money, then? Will the 'free' part change when they move out of beta, or will there be ads in the posted by Sered Woollahra on Timandra using a blogHUD

waking up the neighbours
Judging from the title "Grensgeval", this music hall at Timandra probably has Dutch speaking owners. I noticed a lot of green dots nearby recently, but didn't check it out. Apparently there was a party here at the time! Didn't hear any music, though :-)

solved it - the startup screen showed ***** in the password field, but the viewer didn't 'see' the password. After emptying the password field, and entering it again, I was able to login with Windlight. posted by Sered Woollahra on Timandra using a blogHUD

Windlight doesn't work for me at the moment, the 'connect' button stays greyed out after starting up. It started after the problems with the Support portal and some of the secure secondlife.com servers. Anyone else seeing this? posted by Sered Woollahra on Timandra using a blogHUD

Windlight Red: it's the beacons, stupid
It was a slow day , so I decided to, finally, find out why in SL Windlight some objects turn red, like the prim in this snapshot. Turns out that this happens as soon as a script is added to a prim; with the View function "beacons always on", these prims will display this reddish glow. It's not a bug, it's a feature! So now I have disabled "beacons always on", and the world looks a whole lot better. I'll fire up the main viewer 1.18.5(3) to see if it happens there as well, but I guess this function is there, and somehow it is enabled by default in Windlight. I sure as heck didn't enable it myself!

my bloghud page

Does this html work in postcards? That may seem a silly question, but I haven't found the answer yet. Not in support, not in help, not with Google. Hence the test!
